Good Product but bad durability
I have 3 of these in a RAID 0 array on a MacPro. After a year, 1 has failed with SMART reporting it in failed state. The other 2 are experiencing millions of ECC recovered errors. Very fast, quiet, but not durable over time. 2 year warranty though.

Fast, but noisy
I bought this hd because it was the cheapest ($65) 1TB 7200rpm drive here. I knew that the drive was fast, but didn't expect it to be this noisy. There's a loud sort of click sound when it starts up and when it shuts down, but that could be due to head parking on a ramp. My other two 7200.12 Seagate drives (different models) don't make that sound. When defragging or copying large files, the hd produces annoying loud metallic tinging sounds (like a 40GB Maxtor hd that I owned long ago) instead of the usual zipper-like hd chattering. Otherwise, the drive is quiet. In my test software, this hd has significantly faster read access times than my fast ST3500418AS hd and the average throughput is only 1MB per second slower.

No problems here 1 and a half years and more
this was my first 1tb intermnal drive and i expected problems because we ship computers all over the world. I now own 5 of these, one of which is that same original unit. Absolutely no problems and that one has travelled around the world twice in mileage. Every manufacturer has issues once in a while, but we are an all Seagate house except for some velociraptors and ssd's and they back up their warranty well when i have had problems. this model is set to phase out soon- get em while they last.

Never buy Seagate
There something seriously wrong with Seagate these past couple of years. First they cut their warranty back to only 3 years, then most of their drives won't even last that 3 years now. I have personally sent several back under warranty. Stick with WD.
