At first I tried to capture using Video DVD Maker FREE, and the audio track did not match the video. However, I used the capture software that came with the product and it worked beautifully. I'm extremely happy with this product. The firewire connection on my laptop was giving me products and this capture cable was an inexpensive solution. The capture speed is great as well. |

I am well satisfied with this product. Initially I had problems with it, because the software that comes with the device is no good. You need to download and install the device driver and the application software from StarTech's web site. After doing that, the device worked well. |

I've transferred nearly two dozen tapes to DVD with excellent results. The quality of the copies is indistinguishable from the originals. I followed the advice of other reviewers and limited segments to about a half hour. Every problem I've had was due to my computer hardware, or software. A slow hard drive interrupted the capture on one machine but this was resolved by using my laptop for capture. The video editing software sometimes refuses to write out the finished file but Windows Movie Maker comes to the rescue. If you have old tapes that you don't want to lose as VHS joins 8-tracks in history this is a great product, but expect to invest some time and effort in the process. |

The software is user friendly and I have had no issues with the hardware. I have had similar products that have gone out after a few hours of use. We use this for our events that can last up to 16 hours in a day and I haven't had one fail yet. |
