Product shipped quickly, recieved in good condition, during setup it blue screened. Happened after each driver update. After over 30 blue screen crashes including in safe mode, determined it was bad hardware. I returned it the next day at my expense. It's back to Acer and e-Machines for me. Not impressed with Gateway, to say it nicely.

I purchased this computer for the simple fact that it is a great price for what you get. I received it and set it up and within 3 hours of playing around with it it crashed and went to a blue screen. I didn't think much of it so i reset the computer and not 20 minutes later it did the same thing again. I dug through the box to find the system restore disk and found that it was intended for a 32 bit OS. The OS on this computer is a 64 bit. I called Gateway to have them ship a new restore disk. I received the disk 3 days later and restored the whole computer to it's factory default. I then started it up after all of that and it crashed again. I wrote down what the blue screen said and googled it. There have been many people that have had this exact problem. The people that were discussing it in the forums that I was reading said that it had to do with the AMD Phenom processor. I exchanged the faulty computer for a Gateway with an Intel Core 2 Quad. A faster & more dependable processo

Product shipped quickly, recieved in good condition, after setup while not even touching anything it crashed (blue screen) happened a couple more times while trying to get updated drivers. (figured that may fix it) after over 20 blue screen crashes or frozen screens (including in safe mode) called support waited 10 min to get Gateway, was then transferred to refurb unit and was waiting over an hour, gateway support was good and finally determined it was a hardware falure when they could not help so 1 hr 32 min for 5 min of assistance to decide it was dead. I have to return the product at my cost. Counting on Tiger to replace promptly. Read return policy before purchasing. Keep all packaging.

Very nice PC. I bought a Gateway before and will again. Don't do what I did and buy a case fan (to help keep it cool), it has one and a 12mm fan will not fit. I max out the ram to 8GB and added an ATI 3400HD, only it uses a 300w power supply. That the only draw back and the chip might be intrigued, (I can't tell. Does any one know for sure? also can you put a standard P/S in this (size)?

The restore CD I received appears to be for 32 bit Vista but the installed system is 64 bit. Otherwise, after two days of use, I am well content. The computer is in new/good condition for 'factory refurbished'. I suspect the refurbishing had something to do with updating the BIOS for a rare but fixable flaw in the Phenom 9600 (Google for more info). The used PCI slot is for a phone line modem which most will probably yank out. It is well vented and makes little fan noise.
