The first unit I received, did not even turn on.The replacement unit does turn on but the touch screen is very sluggish. The unit only came with car charger and did not include home charger |

Sadly this entry level but feature rich GPS is not worth the operational hastles it presents.
From Very Low Volume at the very highest volume setting to Small touchscreen buttons, the hastle of using the Navigon 5100 GPS makes it a product to avoid.
I could go on at length about its shortcomings, but rather, I'll say this:
Buy a Garmin Nuvi instead and you will be far more satisfied!

I just spent 1 hour typing a negative report about a recertified GPS unit that does not work. No intenna included in box. I cannot tell you what I purchased because when I tried to comment on this product a message appears above stating, We do not accept web links or names of specific companys. DO NOT PURCHASE HERE as you will not recieve another replacement.I call Customer service here and was hung up on. DO NOT PURCHASE HERE because if your GPS unit does not operate as stated, you will be out the amount paid. Customer service was very rude and hung up the phone on me. Cancel my account please. Terrible Customer service... |

I needed a GPS but didn't want to spend a lot of money. I didn't really need all the bells and whistles of the more expensive unit and since I was used to using my smart phone as a GPS, the 3.5 inch screen was not an issue.
I found this unit as a refurb and decided to give it a try. Am I glad I did. It has clear and smooth display graphics, route profiles, ability to save destinations, a go home function, maps you can update, an FM traffic router, free map update via internet and many pr loaded POIs.
There are some drawbacks that you may need to be aware of like the voice directions are quiet even when turned all the way up, custom POIs are not allowed, POI updates require a subscription, unknown address numbers are not allowed and the suction cup car mount works but probably won't so well in the winter months when the windshield is frozen.
In conclusion, a nice unit for the price. Don't be afraid of the refurb when trying to cut costs. |
