How can you go wrong for one hundred bucks with shipping.Mine came with the first 2 Bourne movies instead of 300 but whatever. For the money it is a great deal and the upconvert on regular dvd's is great as well.

Works right out of the box. I saw no need to download any firmware as of yet. Great quality DVD player and thanks for the two free movies. My only gripe is the time it takes to ''boot up'', but other than that, I am truly please and recommend this player to anyone.

I just bought one, I know Blue-Ray has won the format war, but a DVD/HD DVD player for $90, thats cheaper than any of the other store. I expect the price of these to drop really low in the next few weeks, but I'm looking forward to getting my 5 free HD DVDs in the mail. Luckily most of my HD DVDs are in the DVD combo format. I guess I need to buy a Blue-Ray player or PS3 now.

The HD-DVD picture is great. But I can't recommend it for the upconverting task alone. It takes FOREVER to boot up and regularly locks up requiring a power disconnect to recover. There are other sub-$100 upconverting DVD players out there. I have a Sony that upconverts that I bought two years ago for under $100. And the Sony is ready to play just 4 seconds after pushing the power button.

Just a correction of the review by HDDVD: Blu-Ray players absolutely DO upconvert regular DVD's. I don't know why he would say they don't.
