D-Link DIR-450 3G Wireless Router
D-Link announces a fast, secure mobile router which allows you to share a high speed Internet connection virtually
anywhere by connecting an EV-DO notebook adapter. You can get a high speed Internet connection just about anywhere
within your wireless broadband network. This router is extremely useful in situations where a wired broadband connection is not available.
Quickly set up a Wi-Fi hotspot and provide your workgroup with an Internet connection to check email
and browse the web or share file. Maximize your investment in your mobile Internet access subscription by using this
router as a fixed broadband Internet solution for the home instead of paying additional fees for cable or DSL.
Access Private Networks
With the 3G Mobile Router, government employees or corporate users can create
a wireless network and provide colleagues with remote access to their secure
private networks. It is ideal for off-site situations, such as crime scenes,
where sharing information is critical.
Special Events
Share the Internet while working at special events. Whether you are at an
industry convention, off-site meeting, sporting event, or backstage at a
concert, the 3G Mobile Router can keep your personnel and guests in touch
with the world.
Internet Access for Commuters
By installing the 3G Mobile Router on a bus, train, or even a boat, you
can allow passengers to check e-mail or chat online while commuting. Enhance
their experience and increase the value of your offered services with the
3G Mobile Router.
Emergency Response
Whether you are providing relief for a natural disaster or coordinating
the rescue of a lost hiker, you can quickly set up a wireless network and
allow your team members to access e-mail, go online, and share important
files.
For the Road
The 3G Mobile Router lets you share a mobile Internet connection with your
group when you are on-the-go for work or play. Stay on top of e-mails, chat
with friends and family, get directions, read news, download music, or shop
online.
Fixed Broadband Solution
The 3G Mobile Router can be used as a fixed broadband Internet solution
in homes or offices that do not have a cable or DSL service available, but
are within a compatible mobile wireless network. Conversely, if you are
already subscribing to a mobile Internet service, you can simply use the
3G Mobile Router in your home instead of paying extra for a wired high-speed
Internet connection.

Purchased in April 2007 after employer went VPN. No choice for cable as live too far out of town. Qwest DSL too unreliable. Has worked very well with my Sprint 595 card on Verizon. Suggestion would be to upgrade firmware right off the bat and turn down the signal strength from 100% to 25% on inhouse networking, as sometimes the inhouse will override the incoming Verizon signal, then you have disconnects. Other than that no problems since then. Be sure to update 595 firmware and Verizon Manager at least monthly because the updates greatly reduce any problems you might encounter. Like I said, over 2 years and still works fine and I would purchase it again.

Sorry to counteract the above.
Buyer beware? they PLAINLY STATE (even in the video on THIS SITE) that there are two versions, so it's not Buyer Beware, it's be informed on what kind of 3G card you have. On the DLINK site it even gives what MODEMS it's compatible with so you know if your card will work.
Geeze.

I ordered this product for a client and it arrived DOA. The reset button didn't even 'click' so that I could reset it. Immediately it needed the firmware updated - but no worries, uploading was impossible. Now I have a dead box, but still have a customer wanting a solution. When I talked with customer support, they assured me there is no way to have it shipped out today, as it was already 4 pm. Can I recommend a bad product and bad service? No way.

I installed the DIR-450, (updated the firmware to 1.01) inserted my Sprint Sierra AC595, and nothing happened. A friend let me go through the device authorization on his laptop and now this thing connects and flys like an eagle. Highly recommended

Buyer beware! D-Link makes this router with two different chipsets. The DIR-450 only recognizes Verizon and Sprint networks. The Kyocera KR1 by D-Link is the same exact router except it has a different chipset and it will recognize the Alltel network cards.
