I think this is likely a great product, but my system doesn't have the motherboard connection to use it. None of the six systems in my household support it. At the time of purchase, the listing didn't tell what sort of connection was required. I am exchanging this for a different card reader that will hopefully be compatible with my slightly-older system, perhaps item # A128-2003.

What can I say that hasn't been said. Yes, this product is good... If you don't have any experience with the insides of your case maybe you won't find it extremely easy to set up. But it is. If your motherboard supports front USB ports, and has its USB headers then it will be totally plug and play at least in Windows XP. Also once it's running, windows XP will show on the My Computer window 5 new Removable Disk Drive units with their own letter all the time, even when no memory card is in any of the slots. The good thing is that you can rename them for example Memory Stick, SD, CF, or else once you know which removable drive icon belongs to what media by inserting one of each tipe. You can have all media cards slots (4) with a card on each all the time.

Nicely designed. Works very well with Linux (Xandros). Plugs directly into my Soyo motherboard with no problems. Comes with 3 faceplates (beige, black and silver) to allow some customization with your case.
If you buy it with a Soyo rebate don't expect a refund to show up very quickly (4-6 months minimum).

Not as easy to set up as they say, but it wasn't too bad either (at least for me). Needs some screwing and finding the USB headers on the motherboard.

The 2 parts (memory card and USB port) function independently. The memory card takes up 1 USB port, so if your MB supports 2 front USB ports, you will end up only having 1 left.

For me, the USB part works fine, but the memory card part makes my computer crash at bios. I’m wondering if it’s me or the unit (maybe I got a faulty unit). I’m waiting to hear back from Soyo support.

In conclusion, useful if you don't have a USB port in front of the case yet your motherboard supports it. It ties down 1 USB port, but if you have 6 like me, or you don't have USB in front of your case yet your MB supports it, it's useful. Oh yeah it’s a memory card reader, lol.
What Is USB 2.0?
USB 1.1 was great when it was introduced almost a decade ago. But
the newer USB 2.0 transfers data dramatically faster - up to 40 times
quicker. Plus, USB 2.0 provides additional bandwidth for multimedia and
storage applications, which are growing larger every year. Also to your
advantage is the fact that USB 2.0 is forward and backward compatible with
USB 1.1, which means that cables and connectors made for the original USB
configuration will also work perfectly in a USB 2.0 port, though some newer
devices are specifically designed for USB 2.0. It is always a good
idea to verify the version of USB supported by each device you want to use.
