Just received it today. Took about 5 min to set up. It works great. I was told by Babylock that I wouldn't be able to use my Palette v3 with my new computer, but it works perfectly. It chose com8 when I installed the driver, but I was able to go into the Device Manager on Vista and change the port to Com2. My Palette only has the option of Com1 through Com4. Com3 through Com7 was already assigned on my computer, but it was easy to change to Com2. This saved me $800 that a new program costs to write embroidery designs to a card for my embroidery machine. I'm a very happy customer. |

I've purchased probably close to a dozen of these for work. Compact size makes it easily packable on field campaigns.
Always gets the same COM port on a specific machine, even when multiple adapters are used. Hard to explain briefly. For example if you have ComputerA and ComputerB with AdapterA and AdapterB. AdapterA gets ComputerA-COM3 and ComputerB-COM7, and AdapterB gets ComputerA-COM6 and ComputerB-COM3. Everytime you use the AdapterA on ComputerA it shows up as COM3, even if you have AdapterB on COM6 already plugged in. (The only downside is that I have yet to find out how to release assigned COM port numbers once they are assigned to a specific adapter's serial number. So if in the above example if AdapterB is lost, I don't know how to reclaim ComputerA-COM6 and ComputerB-COM3 so they can be reassigned to another device.) |

I bought this to use with an older Garmin GPS that only connected to a PC via serial. When I first plugged this thing in it asked for drivers, which it did not come with, but windows found the right drivers via the internet and I was off and running within 10 minutes, good product and does what it's supposed to do. |

Used this on a laptop that only had a USB port to connect to a Cisco switch and a Linux server via a serial cable. Worked great, loaded the drivers from the included CD when I plugged the adapter in. No issues whatsoever. Great adapter to keep in your bag at all times. |
