does it come with a heat sink and a fan or just a fan as the ad states?
Question by yo mamma  Posted 06/30/2008
all cpu fans have some kind of heat sink attached to them. the fan alone wouldn't cool the cpu. some type of metal has to contact the cpu to draw the heat away

Hi this is my first time building a computer so i got everything planned out, everything works with each other and such, i was just wondering if i should be buying a cpu fan with the case that i'm getting? (the cool master centurion 5 atx mid-tower)I'm not looking at overclocking right now, but down the road it may come into play when i SLI this computer with 2 8800 geforce GT.
Question by Anonymous  Posted 05/18/2008
A cpu fan is a must in even the most barebones computers. With this quad core (hot, hot and did I say hot) I wouldn't settle for less than a copper/fin/pipe type with a 120mm fan

Hello, I am considering purchasing an alienware 9750 laptop and updating the stock 1.66 cpu with this Intel C2Q Q6600 2.40GHz OEM. Would this be a smart move for a laptop or would this cpu be more suited for a desktop in terms of required power and such. Should one want to put this in a laptop, what else would need to be changed for that to happen? Thankyou for your time.
Question by skrew_dreyever  Posted 06/11/2008
This is a desktop cpu it won't work in a laptop. Upgrading a CPU in a desktop is very hard, it's almost impossible in a laptop. Many cpu's are socket775, but each one only will work on a few boards. Just because the socket is the same doesn't mean that all cpu's work on all mb's

How can I determine if my HP desktop with a 519J P4 is compatible?Thank you. Mike.
Question by Mike  Posted 06/13/2008
it's not. You said it all P4. These are specific to a few new mb's. Build a new system. Tiger has all you need. You don't need a new mouse, keyboard, monitor or speakers. With this cpu you can build a system that is 4x better than any dell,hp, compaq for around $4-$600

Question by wleotr  Posted 02/05/2008
This board doesn't support dual channel. don't confuse dc with ddr or ddr2, 2 totaly different things, but lets try an experiment. Look at the detailed spec. It will tell you what you need to know. If you can't figure it out with the info stated, don't build your own system call dell or something. the info you need is right under your nose. take five AND READ!!!!

Will this motherboard { Intel DG35EC} fit in a HP Pavilion 4550z?
Question by scooter  Posted 05/18/2008
I don't mean to be rude, but the mb is basicly the computer, so asking if this will fit an hp piece of crap is pointless. This board will fit in an atx or matx form factor case. if this is what you hp case is this will fit in it, but you may as well just scrap the whole system and build a new one if yur going to replace a mb. just save your hd so you can migrate your data. I would recommend at least a 350 w psu for this. i doubt your hp crap has higher than a 250. build a new system if your going to go through the trouble of replacing a mb

Are you for real??/ We tech heads are not mind readers. Do you have any idea how many computer models are on the market??? You need a PENT 4 1.5 ghz cpu or more an open drive bay (if you want it as a secondary drive) an ATX form factor case (not slim line) and your MB must support some kind of IDE for this particular drive to work. It's is eaiser for you to give you make model and ask if it will work for you. Your question is EXTREMELY VAUGE

Will this work with a Macintosh computer whose ports are IDE ports? For comparison, this is replacing a SONY model DWU10 678-0429C. The backs of the drives look identical. The only thing that worries me is that Mac OS X is not listed under the drives supported. Will it work?
Question by James  Posted 06/14/2008
I doubt you will have problems, most drives are seen buy the bios/cmos not the os. I would think that worst case is you have to go to mac for a patch. If you worried about the hp brand tiger has more ide drives for less money (phillips, liteon etc)It might be safer to get one of these

will this drive work with my emachines t3410? because i need a burner and im only 16 and i dont need to have to run around trying to find a drive that works and i dont have much money
Question by littlegenius16  Posted 06/25/2008
I don't mean to bust your bubble kid ,but e-machines are bottom basement crap and not very upgradeable, but you will have to take the side of your case off to see. (make sure you unplug your computer for at least 30 min before removing the side panel) Look at the cable going to the cd/dvd drive an IDE cable has 40 pin (wires) which look like a strap about 2 inches wide. If you machine has this then this drive will work. From what I see your machine uses IDE. If you only have 1 5.25 inch drive bay then this will work as a replacement only (you will lose whatever cd drive that you have)

Will this work with Dell Dimension 2400? (bought 2004)After 30 day Nero trial period expires, what are the options for software?
Question by dell 2004  Posted 06/09/2008
This will work, but your machine is old (single core cpu and only 1 gb max ram) You can use your old monitor mouse and keybaord (speakers if you have them) and build a decent system with win xp or vista from tiger for about $350. As far as Nero goes you should always be able to use the OEM version (no extras) of the software. I like dvd fab platinum for burnig dvd's and nero for cd's and data backup, but I would worry if my machine would run these modern programs if I were you.

Will this hardrive work in my Dell Dimension 2300 desktop? Is the interface speed 100 or 133?
Question by davkod  Posted 06/24/2008
this is SATA 300. so no it won't work. The type of drive you are refering to is a PATA (IDE or EIDE) almost all pata interfaces are backward comp. (they work for all speeds)

Are SATA-300 hard drives backward compatable with SATA-150 mother boards?
Question by D  Posted 06/28/2008
no, but sometimes you can move the sata jumper pin and force it to 150, but you void the warranty. You might want to look into a PCIE or PCI card with sata 300 headers on it. PCIE x1 is slower than sata 300, but slightly faster than sata150

I installed my hard drive, but my os is still showing no visible drive - do I need any kind of software or drivers, or maybe specific info for the bios? I can't access my os gui, but i can access system recovery app.
Question by Anonymous  Posted 05/20/2008
this is sata you still need a power cable. the 7 pin data cable doesn't supply power, you may need an adapter. if you using win xp or later xp must have sp2 and you must format this drive. make sure your autodetect for sata is on is bios. If you have an older board sometimes they won't run sata and IDE at the same time (a Bios/cmos flash upgrade can solve this sometimes). If your trying to use this as a primary drive you must format and install on OS on it

Will this work in a Mac G5? The size needed is Width: 3.9 inches by depth: 5.7 inches by Height: 1.0 inches
Question by JohnA  Posted 06/27/2008
Size doesn't matter all 3.5 inch internal drives are the same. Interface type does. The specs I saw for g5 used SATA. You have to find out if your machine uses SATA 150 or 300 If you need 300 this will work. Go to apple support to be sure

Hi, I recently ordered this ''OCZ SLI 2048MB PC6400 DDR2'' ram, and have been having troubles getting my computer too boot. I'm currently using a P5N-E SLI with the NVIDIA nForce 650i chipset. I put the memory sticks in and it might go as far as the user screen or as far as the bios, then it freezes with a flash of a blue screen( Can't read what it says ). It then repeats itself. I tried to use ''Use Last Configuration that Work'' but it only does the same. I works fine with my old memory stick. Maybe i need to change some BIO settings?

I've kept reading this one question here for a while about the 32 and 64 bit system, I own a XFX nForce 680I LT SLI Motherboard and purchased a barebone kit with it as well. Now, I recently ordered another set of exact ram chips, which are these and it's only detecting 2.75 GB of ram.The motherboard here says it's a 64 bit system, so that should be able to detect 3.5 GB of ram, now is it because of running Windows XP/Vista?
Question by Anonymous  Posted 03/13/2008
If you have 4 slots and a 64 bit version of vista this should make 8 gb for your system if the board you state supports 8 gb. If you have a 32 bit version of vista and 4 slots it won't see more than 1 gb per module if it sees it at all. If your 32 bit you will only be able to use 4gb 4, 1gb modules

I'm a first time buyer and will definitely use TigerDirect again. I did not ask for next service but that's what I got. I ordered on Wednesday and it arrived on Thursday! The packaging was very secure. I bought the computer as a travel computer - sort of a cheap alternative to my main work laptop. The reconditioned computer from TIGERDIRECT exceeded my expectations.
