I also bought before Black Friday at the sale price.
One reviewer mentioned there was no recovery disc included. That is correct. However, there are directions on now make one, and it was very easy to do.
I did install 4 GB more RAM and noticed an increase in performance. This is a good upgrade and very easy to do.
The computer has lived up to Sony's claims. No complaints
Good Design and a saving of at least $150-$250...

I purchased this machine just before Black Friday and saved at least $150! A NEW (not used) 17.3'' laptop with blu-ray player! Who needs a 14'' laptop when you can have an 18'' for less!?! Did someone say: ''Size matters?'' Nicely designed by Sony Vaio, this monster actually feels slims, light. My wife needs this laptop for work, she needed a large lcd, large keyboard for typing and at least 2-3 hours of battery life. The ''little children'' use it to play online games and just between u and me: I need it for watching my LordoftheRing trilogy on blu-ray discs when we go on the road... ALL HAPPY for now...

After putting this thru the paces only two issues were found. You can not set the video memory. No recovery options.(no media, no create media, not even a boot to recovery option) I really was disappointed in Sony for not providing any option other then to purchase the recovery media EXTRA. Other than these two issues the system is fast has great battery life and the screen is great. Worth the money.

I bought this VAIO and I am really please with all the features that it has built in. Superb resolution, nice graphics and video playback. Bluray no words to describe it. Intel i5 very powerful. Not heavy at all for it's size. Looking for one like this after having a 3 year old dual core one.... and the new cpu it's totally worthy.

What Is A Cell? It's a
battery
Though technically a battery has multiple cells, we are accustomed to calling a
single energy cell a battery as well.

more) batteries provide much more energy, and many more hours of use. This
can be good or bad! More cells mean longer use, but more weight too!
So remember to always check for the number of
cells if specified, and choose the right configuration for your use.

Alessandro Volta! The first known usage of the battery (as we know it
today) was in 1863 by the physician named Flora Bills.
Recovery Media
Most computer systems no longer include "Recovery Media" (Disks or CDs used to restore your computer system to it's factory shipped state). Many do not even include Operating System disks.
This is not specific to systems purchased from any one company, but now standard practice throughout the entire industry.
However, many manufacturers include software on the hard drive that creates recovery media for you. This allows burning your own set of recovery CDs or DVDs - all you need is the blank media.
Inclusion of such a recovery utility varies by manufacturer and model; not all manufactures and models include such a utility. For those that include such a utility we recommend you create your own set of recovery media after completing the Windows installation. In other words, right after you start using your PC!
If you fail to do this and encounter a difficulty in the future you may not be able to properly restore your computer.
Some manufacturers may have physical recovery media available separately for purchase; consult your owner’s manual support information section for additional information. Systems that do not come with a CD/DVD burner may still include Recovery Disks - please check the manufacturer's specs.
