Excellent +RW drive for the money. It's really an NEC 1100a. Mine even had the NEC sticker on top, and NEC firmware. I bought my own back when it was just under $200. I've not had any trouble with discs in stand-alone DVD players. Every +R disc I've burned, played fine. I use +RW discs in my stand-alone player as well with no problem. I had to flash my firmware to HP 300n as I bought a 25 pack of Memorex 4x +R discs. Just follow the steps on backing up your present firmware before you try anything. Overall, I'm VERY happy with this drive. I have no plans to upgrade to a dual format or 8x drive at all. |
