Iogear - GUC232A - USB to PDA/Serial Adapter
The USB Serial Adapter (G- UC232A) provides you with an external serial
(DB- 9 male) Plug- N- Play connection for use with computers, notebooks,
and hand held computing devices that support USB. The PDA/ USB Serial
Adapter has a standard type A USB plug. This USB Serial Adapter provides
PDAs, digital cameras, modems, and ISDN terminal adapters with high quality
serial connections at a data transfer rate of over 230Kbps. This makes
the USB interface transparent to serial peripherals, allowing them to
easily interface with USB computers. This eliminates the setup hassle
found with traditional serial port connections.

Works, but not for me
I purchased this to download maps and waypoints into my GPS. It worked like a charm on my office XP computer but after trying every listed driver for Vista and Windows 7 on my laptop my only progress is that the laptop says it is working fine but I cannot transfer data.

Great until windows 7
I have been using this workhorse of an adapter for years to convert USB to serial. I recently purchased a laptop running windows 7 and it was not compatible with it. I found that the Keyspan adapter is though. We'll just have to wait for the drivers to come out and I'm sure it will be fine

Thinking,''You get what you paid for'', I better buy the more expensive one, and be hassle free. The CD driver included, did not work with my Vista Premium --64 bits. After phoning Customer Service, and downloaded the proper driver from their website, it worked great, and still working great.
