I bought one around January and I would definetly buy another. My HP crashed here in Iraq and I was in need of a new computer. I saw it online and got it for the great price. I mostly use it for mp3, watching movies, technical manuals, and doing army work. On the downside the battery life is only around 90 minutes and the hard drive is partitioned. It is still one of the best laptops I have had for the price. I am still glad I bought it.

Very pleasent surprise to see a laptop come with no trial-ware, ad-ware and a bunch of other programs I can buy. Great laptop for the $. I did add memory before turning it on the first time. Have recommended to friends and family and will definitely look at Acer again.

THE GOOD:
*The Sempron 3000+ was a pleasant surprise. We added an additional 256MB SODIMM right from the start ($26 PQI).
*Battery life was not as bad as others had mentioned, as it lasted a solid 2 hours and more juice remained before plugging it back in.
*DVD Playback via the ACER ARCADE software was extremely impressive, despite the screen not being as bright as more expensive models. This was probably due to the 64MB of system memory the SiS Mirage 2 graphics took.
*The built in wireless has excellent range, but we didnt do any speed tests.
*This laptop is much cheaper than it's Intel counterparts - an excellent value to say the least.
THE BAD:
The 15.4in Widescreen was the only thing I found lackluster on this unit. It is not as bright as more expensive models, but of course, that's what you get when you spend hundreds of dol

Give this a 5 star if you do a couple things when you buy it. Get 512mb ram to add in. If you need screaming wireless speed you might want to upgrade with a card. The onboard wireless isn't real fast but It has awesome range. The only thing thats happened to me is if you leave it sitting idle for a long period of time it loses track of the DVD drive but a reboot always fixes it and I'm talking a couple hours sitting idle here. We had to use this computer to run a big event when 2 Toshibas and a Gateway that we had for it dumped on us. This one came through in flying colors and was way faster than it's suppossedly faster counter parts. Saved our butts. Buy it, You'll love it.
