Owned it for two months, before the clicking problem started. Have the latest firmware, and it is the cch1 model. system freezes, and some corrupt files, which is becoming more frequent. Not to excited about sending back for replacement, as they are time bombs. |

All these drive off the assembly line are fantastic. Basically, if you have a bad drive, theres a good chance it was the handling that messed it up. UPS destroys a large percentage of there shipments. Ive had anything from PC to musical equipment trashed by there delivery services. Better to go FedEx if theyll do it. |

I got the drive two weeks ago, installed and formatted without a hitch, no failures or evidence of them. Fast transfer rates, best in 1 to 1.5TB class, although i hear I O performance is better on the 1TB WD Caviar Black, this still is a lot faster than my 160GB WD Caviar Blue. At this point it is the best value drive since it is being sold for $130, while the cheapest 1TB is the Hitachi 7000K.B for $90. You are getting 1.5 times the space for 5 bucks less (90x1.5 is 135) but more importantly you probably wont have to buy a new drive as soon, since the extra 500GB is a nice cushion, so it might save you more in the long run. |

The Barracuda is a very deadly fish in his territory. Likewise this drive doesn't have any competition now or in the very near future.
