By far the worse unit I have ever had the displeasure of being stuck with. The battery is true to form and does indeed last up to 8 hours which is great. The cost? Your computer freezes up almost 4 or 5 times a day and you cannot run office and explorer at the same time as even this would be too much demand on this SLOW PROCESSOR..... Useless for anything other than grandma's email checking.

Don't know if this is a Vista problem, but when we wake the unit up from sleep mode, it will not recognize the wireless system in my house. I even unlocked the security system on the wirless. No luck; can't connect. I have to restart to get it to recognize my own router. Unit is a refurb, but this is driving my wife crazy...even worse than I do! I'd say pass on Vista and pass on this refurb.

Like other reviewers, spend some time to upgrade to Win7 then you will see much better in performance. This is a Core Solo so do not expect to run multiple threads to meet your expectaion. Wireless performance is excellent. I could always get in between 200-300mgb; of course, it is depending your network environment. So far, the connection never drop after you set it up right.
The only down side is that you can only get up to 5 hours when run on battery mode, not 8 hours as advertised. In general, it is a good investment.

This is my first laptop, so figured try a refurbished one first before laying out a lot of money on a new one. Had this Timeline for about 2 months and even with windows Vista home premium it works great for me. does my Face Book apps great, and the battery life on high still have enough power for the amount of time i use it for. Love all the features of this unit comparable to higher priced models i have checked out before i brought this one, Thanks for the great service.

What Is A Cell? It's a
battery
Though technically a battery has multiple cells, we are accustomed to calling a
single energy cell a battery as well.
In
electronics, a battery or voltaic cell is a combination of many electrochemical
Galvanic cells of identical type to store chemical energy and to deliver it in
the form of electricity. The battery cells combine to produce more energy
(voltage or amps) than a cell by itself. When joined in this way, it is a
battery of cells. Almost all portable electronics use one or more cells -
rechargeable or disposable. The more cells, the more energy available -
meaning more hours of use usually.
In Notebook computers, the battery case usually
holds three or more cells. 3 Cell batteries tend to provide about 1-3
hours of use, depending on the energy needs of the Laptop. 6 cell (or
more) batteries provide much more energy, and many more hours of use. This
can be good or bad! More cells mean longer use, but more weight too!
So remember to always check for the number of
cells if specified, and choose the right configuration for your use.
