Since the introduction of 7200 RPM hard drives, passive cooling for HDDs were no longer sufficient. As with any computer component, a hard drive can only perform reliably if it is kept within its specified operating temperatures - the cooler the hard drive, the more efficiently it can perform. This hard drive cooler is quieter than its predecessor and appears to be working well. I would recommend it to people attempting to quietly maintain and extend the life of their internal hard drives. |

I was hoping this would solve my hot hard drive issues but after installing on the drive in a Tivo, the thing started screaming like a stuck pig after five days running. I removed the unit and tried it upside down, reassembled everything and it ran for two days before one of the fans started crying. I like the concept, but the quality of the fans is as cheap as cheap can be. What do I expect for $9? At least something that runs for a month! |

Had a hard time fitting it into HP HDD case. I got a new frame to hold 4 HDs and this slid right in. I have it on each of two WD Black Caviar 1TB drives and it is unnoticeable in terms of noise. |

Works great, really cool's things down.
However, just a tad bit of noise. With this mentioned I have to admit the desktop is less than 12 inches from me. As I move further away, normal distance where one would place their PC, not a sound. Bought two of these for an upgrade for Dell 2400 Desktop unit's. Found extension bracket's for the PC on ebay so as to add aditional drive or mount outside of cage unit. Took some work mounting outside with fan in place. Will buy more of these as my arsenal builds.
