a money-wasting external HHD

bought for one+ year and not used heavily, broken down suddenly. In comparison, my WD external HDD still works well after use of 8 years. I am struggling to get my data out of the broken HDD. I do not suggest you to buy this. it is not better than an USB key.

I bought it last November to replace my 120 gb drive in my mac mini. I booted off it as a usb drive untill last weekend when i finally open both up and did the switch. I was a bit slow before and seems to have more spring in its activity since. It has been
working well for me all along. Oh fyi it's a Toshiba drive.

I bought this external HD and my what a pain. No support nothing for drivers nothing! My Windows does not recognize the HD I have plugged it in a few hunderd times nothing but the HD does power up.

My two main reasons for these were (a) price and (b) they didn't include manufacturer's installed encryption. I wanted drives that were simple plug-and-play that didn't require a password (being installed in a secured location). These drives served both purposes well. I did drop one accidentally from a 4 foot table that bricked the drive so they aren't very resistant to falls, but otherwise they are very good. The 1 foot cable is all but worthless so keep that in mind when buying.
