yes you get what you payfor, yes they have the lock tab for the cover. and if you know how to crimp, they work just fine!

Use at your own risk
We installed a 4 lane point of sale system using the cat5 cable and connectors. The connectors did not have a locking tab so the connectors would easily fall out of the hub or router or cpu port. We are now replacing each connector with a connector that has the locking tab in place. Use at your own risk.

GREAT VALUE!!!
Along with the crimp tool these Crimp style connectors are great. They allow you to make Ethernet Cables for a home network, Reversal Type communication cables for modem hookup as well as Machine to Machine cables. I hooked up my entire home network with these connectors at approx one third the cost of buying ready made cables.
