DO NOT BUY THIS CABLE
This cable has a metal housing at the 800 firewire end and about a week after using it successfully I plugged it into my laptop and a spark shot out, frying my port. I had to have the logic board replaced. Stupidly, I tried it in another device and it destroyed that port too and the device (an external hard drive).
