Ahead of its time

I've had this laptop for almost a year now, and it still out-classes any other laptop within price range. If you're looking to spend around this much on a laptop OR computer, pick this laptop. It won't let you down.

AMAZING

Absolutly the finest computer I have ever used. It will multi task, play games and do so much more than I realized. Windows 8 was the only downside, but a friend put 7 in for me & now it is perfect.

Excellent

Excellent machine. Like some other reviews, the only downside is Windows 8. I bought this for work - it's a beast for developing on, definitely what I needed. It can handle three IDE's, SQL Developer, and several virtual machines all running at the same time.

Awesome laptop

I've had a G74SX-DH71 for the last year and a half now. I loved it so much, I upgraded to the G75VX-TS72 and it is even more awesome. The video card is the biggest thing. The G74 has a GTX 560m 3gb which in itself is a great card. no issues on any games at 1080p resolution even on an external HDMI display in dual monitor mode. This G75 simply rules. I cant get anything to cause it to lag. I upgraded the ram to 32gb (as I did with the G74) and its awesome. My gaming desktop has been demoted to a file server. You also get more usb 3.0 ports on the G75. The G74 has only 1 usb 3.0 port. Asus did a great job with the G series laptops for sure. Most certainly worth the money

Do Not Underestimate!

I got this laptop and I am not having a single problem at all with it, I sold my desktop to get this laptop and with the 670mx at 3gb vs my desktop with a 660-ti at 3gb these beasts side by side comparison are almost impossible to find a huge difference I play all my games Far Cry 3, Skyrim, Aliens Colonial Marines, On Ultra settings and UNPLUGGED, even on power save it doesnt lag enough to physically see a difference even with it on battery, and the best part is you can play this way on the plane in the car on a road trip or even just at mccdonalds if you dare! i have some gameplay on my youtube channel just search my nickname :D its of war z!

The only downside is Win8

I would have given all 5 stars but Win 8 is a deal killer. Returned for a 7 machine.

Highest Quality & Performence for the

This system is a spectacular buy. Nothing makes the system hiccup. Since everyone knows how great the laptop is (so great that I bought myself one, and 2 weeks later my wife one), I will focus on the not so great. Easy 1 is Win 8 WITHOUT oem software to reinstall. 8 is bad, its worse when no software or backup option is provided to reinstall. 2 There is a subwoofer that kills the audio balance of stereo, it is louder than the 2 default speakers. It sounds ok if you can get used to the lopsided left stereo. New driver lets you adjust subwoofer output. But admit it you bought this laptop to use high end audio file headphones or at least a G930 so it doesn't matter much anyway. Add an SSD and you will be in laptop heaven. Desktop replacement. Really, my desktop is an I7 2600K 16GB raid vertex 3 SSD, with sli'd MSI twinfrozr III 570's on an asus maximus IV extreme, in a level 10GT case ... I haven't been on it since I got my laptop.

Only Runs Windows 8

Computer is great with one exception. It only runs windows 8 on a GPT partition. No successful cloning of drive available, no drivers for any other OS available from ASUS. I have tried several cloning programs without success. If drive goes bad, you're in trouble. If anyone has information how to successfully clone a GUID drive, it would be greatly appreciated. Heck, even Acronis might hire you!

Amazingly Awesome

A spectacular gaming laptop. It has all the specs I could need, and the price was a steal. I was able to load Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 (for instance) onto this puppy, and play them both on their highest graphic settings (across the board), and even amidst massive in-game battles that would tax the heck out of a lesser computer, this superb gaming laptop didn't even hiccup! The performance is amazing, and the sleek design makes it lovely to look at. Like others had mentioned, my only gripe is the default installation of Windows 8. I will be 'downgrading' to Windows 7 soon, as without a touchscreen, Windows 8 is inefficient and troublesome. Nonetheless, a truly awesome gaming platform. I love it. The only real problem is now my fiance wants one, too.
