I purchased this for one of my offices several years ago and it has worked quietly and reliably since. I just purchased another for a second office location where the power goes out frequently. The results are the same, it works quietly and reliably. |

The units works great and the supplied software does work with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.
The version is 2.81.
I have unplugged the UPS several times and the software shuts down Windows 7 with no problem.

Failed right after warranty ran out

The unit failed just after the three-year warranty ran out. The batteries are good, but the unit will not start. I emailed customer service at Ultra for support, and they said I would just have to replace it. Some support! You can bet it will not be with another Ultra product.
I looked around for a wiring diagram and found them for other brands but not Ultra. Also, just try to find replacement batteries for the unit. they are readily available for APC, Belkin and many other brands - but not Ultra. You might as well assume you will have to replace the unit after the warranty runs out. |

Windows 7 no longer has a built in ups feature and the UPSMON software from ULTRA does not work in Windows 7 either. I emailed tech support and they said they do not have software that works with Windows 7 or an ETA on software that will work. So basically, no way to shut down computer safely if power goes out. |
spend the extra $50 and get an APC

While the ups itself may work, the software that this unit comes with UPSMON is garbage. Since there are few indicators on the actual unit, you don't know how the ups is performing. Ultra provides almost no support for UPSMON product.
Spend the extra money and get an APC like the 1300va and get way better software, no hassel. |

I guess if you come back and buy a second one, that would show that I am satisfied with mine. Great buy when they sell them for 99.95 and you add one little thing just to make the order go over 100.00 to get free shipping. You may find the unit is not 13 inches deep but actually 15 inches deep.
The software that comes with it gives you a feel for how long it will last when the power goes out. |

Great value for price vs performance.
Only complaint is that there appears to be no computer control
(USB interface) software for MAC. So Im using it as a non controlled UPS. |

This is the 4th ultra unit I have purchased. This one was on sale for the same price as a smaller model so it was an easy decision to buy. The unit works exactly as it's supposed to. I have found that all the software that comes with UPS units is buggy and always seems to crash so I don't bother installing the software. It would be nice if they fixed this software and it did what it was supposed to. Replacing the batteries is always an issue as they don't offer any online and expect you to toss yours and buy a new one when the batteries die. I did find a location in Toronto that sold the replacement batteries for a good price at A 1 Parts dot com |

I purchased three of these to replace some that I have had for 4 years. The batteries went bad so bought new ups units then bought replacement batteries and they are all working great. The replacement batteries are UB-1280 SLA or GZ-1270 F2 SLA |

I have 3 of these units in service since 09-02-06. The batteries are now ready for replacement but I cannot find any websites that list a battery for this UPS.
The units have worked flawless for a file server, pc and home theater setup. I am now getting fast beeps during regular testing indicating battery problems. |
