A resistive touchscreen panel is a technology composed of several layers, the layers that allow control of positioning are two thin, electrically conductive layers separated by a narrow gap. When your finger, presses down on a point on the panel's outer surface the two metallic layers come in contact at that point, and that location is sent to the device - to perform some action or move the cursor. Resistive touchscreens are reliable, but can only be used to control a single point at a time.
capacitive touchscreen panel consists of an insulator such as glass, coated with a transparent conductor such as indium tin oxide (ITO). Since the human body is also an electrical conductor, touching the surface of the screen results in a distortion of the screen's electrostatic field, measurable as a change in capacitance. Different technologies may be used to determine the location of the touch. The location is then sent to the device to be interpreted. Unlike a resistive touchscreen, capacitive requires contact with your finger - it is much more flexible and precise, but you can't use it with gloves, though you can use a capacitive stylus if the device supports them. Capacitive touchscreens also support multi-touch operations that let you perform more complex tasks with a single action.

Excellent value; too skinny
Refurbished 16GB unit. Should be a 6 for Value! Have an Android phone so it's a great companion. Arrived two days late, hate UPS! Excellent hardware, gorgeous screen but it's too narrow for my personal taste. Aspect ratio is 16:10. I'm used to 4:3. It refuses to update to 4.2.2 so only a 3 for Features. Seems to be fairly common but haven't found an answer yet. Would love this tablet with screen size of my wife's iPad Mini.

Great tablet
This is the right one I am looking for. It has little bit problem to update to latest firmwork: Android 4.2.2. But it has lots of video on Google. Finally I updated to 4.2.2. No problem at all! I love it!

great value for money for a tablet
This is my first tablet and I'm glad I purchased this over the iPad. I have used iPads of friends and family, and for what I need the N7 accomplishes everything. As a PC user also, I used to being able to tinker and customize my machine so the N7 was a great choice in that regard. I also have an iPhone, and unfortunately some apps I really like are not available on Android, but the market is huge so there's no problem finding a replacement. By far this is the best deal for a tablet or e-reader; the capability of a high performing tablet and priced closer to lower functioning e-readers (e.g. kindle fire).
