Sony A57 is Excellent DSLR Camera!
I experimented with multiple DSLR cameras before studying the Sony A57. Excellent camera for the beginner through professional photographer. True HD video and high quality photos, from still posed shots to fast action shots. Built-in flash works well in most beginner photo shoots, and accomodates remote flash and flash attachments. Has screw for tripod mounting on base. Swivel view screen allows use in many awkward positions. Tons of settings, from automated to setting your own aperture, F-stop, shutter speed, and ISO settings. Coolest feature is the automatic smile detector - takes a picture automatically when it detects someone in the frame smiling! Does allow for color and white balance settings and a ton of other setting features. A-mount allows a multitude of different lenses to be attached. Only downside to this camera is that the individual lenses can cost from $100-2500, depending on the style and quality of the lens.

Sony SLT-A57K is a FANTASTIC buy!!!
I reviewed Canon T3i, Canon T4i and Nikon D5100 - they all came close. But, upon using Sony, I figured they wouldn't come close enough ... For a first-time user, not even 5% of the photos I shot for a stage performance with moderate lighting came out great. The video is TRUE HD!
