I thought I got a great deal
I got this on sale for $220 several months back. I thought I was getting a great deal, as I was spending more than average $120-150 for point-and-shoot cameras. I also had good experience with a different camera of the same brand before and believed in being a loyal customer. For what's worth, this camera takes awesome macro photos. Sometimes anyway, as long as there's plenty of light and the object being photographed is not too small. The zoom is also fantastic for point-and-shoot. I am able to take nice shots with up to 18x zoom. HD video isn't too bad either. Compared to an older and cheaper camera I had, this one has questionable focus, contrast, and color balance. NOT a good choice for scenery shots (especially of trees and grass). I agree with other owners that mode selector really is flimsy and has a mind of its own.

Good camera
I mainly wanted a camera that could zoom but still take clear pictures and this did it!!! At 18x I still get amazing pics!!! The only reason it didn't get a perfect score is because the dial pad is way too sensitive. Other than that I'm happy with my purchase!!!

Big Disapointment, Average to fair performer
Picture quality and construction is good but functionality and systems are poor. The camera constantly tries to manually change modes, when the mode dial is in smart mode. The dial is so sensitive if you barely graze your finger on the dial it tries to change modes. Time to picture is poor and it is difficult to snap consecutive pictures. I'm no camera pro so I have not tried to manually adjust aperature or shutter speeds hence I leave it in smart mode. When comparing this model to an older model we owned, time to picture was much better with later, even with a 15mb write flash card. I'm using a 30mb write flash card and performance is considerably slower than the older model. We had dial issues with the older model, but that was after 2.5 years of heave use; We owned this camera roughly 3weeks and unfortunately we are disapointed.
