Sandy Bridge has been fixed
and this laptop has been released with the Sandy Bridge fix. This is a entertainment machine more then a gaming machine. I bought it thinking i would add an SSD drive (since the HD is a 5400 rpm drive). Well I replaced the HD with a SSD drive and when I opened up the 2nd drive bay to move the HD there it had an unconventional interface. I posted on a few laptops forums and someone sent me some info on a kit that was used with the 7745. Well I called Acer and they said i couldn't add a 2nd drive. Well I found a model of this same drive for sale in Australia that comes with 2 1.5 GB drives. I also found a laptop part store in Germany that said the part for thr 7745 wouldn't fit the 8950. Well i'm going to wait and see if a part becomes available. Well i left the 128 GB SSD drive and will use an external drive for data. It boots in seconds now with the SSD drive. I love the sound and video from this machine. I do reccommed this laptop

Ok as long as you don't play FPS games
I got this because it had a FireWire port, a USB 3.0 port, full HD display, new Sandy Bridge i7 processor. It works fine until I try to play any kind of 3D game. Games varied from totally unplayable due to stop errors to only occasional glitches. Both Cod: Modern Warefare 1 and 2 were unplayable, no matter what settings I chose. I could not get past the first scenarios in either game without stop errors or display driver resets. Now I see that this laptop is no longer available, just a day or so after I got it. I'm sending this thing back asap.
