Nice for Travel

This laptop is light weight, fast and reliable. Coupled with a docking station it is perfect for the exec who travels a lot. Have had the 1311 for over a year with no problems so bought 2 of the 1312s

Bad experience, avoid!

I have had poor quality and repair experiences with not one, but two Toshibas, one of this model and another as well. One had display issues, the other had a noisy fan plus a plastic piece around the headphone mount came off making it unusable. After returning the two computers a total of three times to the Toshiba repair center, neither of them were fixed to reasonable standards. I ended up taking them to a local repair shop to get them fixed right. I also ended up disputing the charge on my credit card since they insisted the display problems were due to abuse, which they weren't, and they charged me $300 to replace the screen, which still had problems when they were done. My local shop charged $200 for the same repair! I used to think Toshiba made good computers, but my poor experiences with their recent products and with their service department leads me to recommend that this computer, and the brand in general, should be avoided.

Affordable Lightweight Laptop with DVDROM

*** Update on May 30, 2011 *** It is unfortunate that I have to change my rating of this laptop from 5,5,4,4 to 1,1,1,1 (I would give it 0,0,0,0 if I can). There is a major flaw in the laptop that I purchased. The battery will drain itself 10% every 24 hours even when the computer is in the shut down mod!!!. I have already changed a new battery through Toshiba's RMA service, but hte battery is not the problem. A quick Google on internet results in similar issue in different lines of Toshiba laptops. I am going to service this laptop and I hope Toshiba can fix it. This is such a great laptop ONLY if the battery does not drain itself after the computer is shut down. *** Original Review was written on April 21, 2011 *** So far so good. PROS: (a) lightweight (b) 3-year warranty (c) Windows Professional CONS: (a) 64-bit is not the default system, I had to go through recovery in order to get 64-bit system to show (b) crashed once when watching Netflix streaming (c) too

Just what the doctor ordered

Lightweight, powerful, fast and featured. Unlike most other feather weight notebooks, the optical reader is a plus. Able to install the apps I needed and get up and running in a couple hours. Truly the ideal choice for the road warrior in need of a travel worthy and powerful tool. I'm truly content and would encourage others to buy this mighty mite.

Super light, full of features..

I'm really glad I bought this laptop, it has the right combination of features, light weight, and sleek look. PROS: Intel WIDI capable, bluetooth, super light, 64bit processor and OS, battery life is about 4 hours under normal use (not the 8 it claims, but still good). CONS: Can get a bit worm, the camera quality is very poor under low light conditions (i.e. there are times in which the embedded webcam no longer detects enough light to display an image but my USB Creative Webcam still has enough sensitivity to display plenty).
