Does not do Shadow or Black areas well
This projector looks great as long as it's colrful bright scenes. if it a dark room forget it no detail at all. sides of faces,hair back ground items all details disapear. Tried all adjustment no help.

I had the previous model for 2 years. So I thought this one is the same, but no it is much much better in quality and performance. No regrets

Outstanding performance
I have used sharp products for years in a great room theatre, with a 12' screen. I replaced my sharp with this item, the first time I had folks over to watch football, everyone commented how much better and crisper this picture is. Picture in picture, very cool, overall, great value at 1400, and the price is about half that! My buddy has a 3200 epson that he says he wants to replace with this. As for lamp prices, always know that going in, this is an investment, but try matching it with a flat panel, not even close.
