writing surface smooth but bubbled
I've been using tablets exclusively for 20 years. I've used Ultra Slates and Intuos' all versions. The picasso tablet works as well as any tablet I've ever used for everyday stuff. This tablet is equally responsive, even when the stylus is sharply angled, to an intuos. PROS: the writing surface film is soft and feels good, unlike the detestable roughness of my current wacom 4. CONS: the smooth film used as a writing surface is full of bubbles that seem to be getting larger and more plentiful the more I use the tablet. I would remove the film and just draw on the tablet except the surface beneath is even MORE rough than the abominably rough surface of the intuos 4. I have sent a request to have penpower replace the piece of film. I could not call them on the phone because the phone number provided here and on their website is INVALID. I only now made the eMail request to them so I do not know if they will respond in a timely way

pretty darn good
I have not used other tablets before but I find this one a good value for the money. It seems to do the job just fine and its buttons and keys are completely customizable. No battery needed for pen very nice! Macro key manager software does NOT work on 10.4.11 freezes system on startup. Fortunately, another company markets the same tablet and their software works. Just download it from them until and if this company ever fixes it.

Poor Surface but great price and performance!
I have been a professional Illustrator for more than 30 years. I've used practically every decent tablet on the market. From the cheapest to the top shelf models. This tablet has great features and excellent precision. The price is fantastic. With that said, this is a very nice tablet and well worth the money. Remember to peel off the surface protector film from the surface sheet or the corners will curl up!

Great beginner's graphics tablet
Bought it for my 11 year-old daughter to extend her animation capabilities. My 18 year-old son ended up borrowing it and using it as much as she would--they both love it. So I bought a second one for him. Never had any problems with it. They both love the features, though I know very little about what all it can do--they seem to be very savvy in that department and have zero complaints about it.

Don't buy if you have OS X Lion
Simple, it doesn't work with OS X Lion. I checked for updated drivers and came to find out that the latest drivers, which are for OS X Snow Leopard actually require that Rosseta be installed. Rosseta is a program that allows you to run the old legacy Mac software written for Macs before they had Intel CPU's in them. Lion doesn't support Rosseta. Sent it back for a refund.
