The SATDOCK22RE USB and eSATA Standalone Duplicator Dock lets you duplicate/clone an existing hard drive without the use of a host computer system, or can be connected to a computer system for use as an external hard drive dock.
As a hard drive duplicator, you can create an exact 1 to 1 sector clone from one hard drive to another, including partition and boot sector information and all data, at a rate of 72MB/second - ensuring data integrity and consistency for sensitive operations, such as data recovery.
What It Is And Why You Need It:
- The StarTech SATDOCK22RE Hard Drive Duplicator Dock is a standalone cloning operation with LED progress indicator allows for creating 1:1 copies of hard drives without having to connect to a host computer.
- On-the-fly switching from Duplicator to USB 2.0 or eSATA connectivity with the push of a button, allows a connected computer system to read/write to the drives.
- A top slot-loading design and unique drive ejection mechanism provides quick and easy access to the data without having to install drives into an enclosure or tray.

Works real well
I can use it to clone drives, as an external drive for copying files, and to do backups. Just plug it in and use it via USB. It's for SATA drives only, wish they had one for IDE Drives, or adapters to go from SATA to IDE connectors.

worked great
used to copy a sata for my new larger drive. I did a format on the new drive then copied old to new it only shows the new drive as large as the old, bur there is a program to drag the shown size to the larger drive. I can't remember the free program so look around. Sorry about that.

Solid drive cloner
This little disk coning tool does what it is supposed to with the added benefit of acting as a disk docking device. It is an embedded Linux device using DD to do the job, so the work proceeds somewhat slowly and cloning must be to identical or larger drives, but the outcome is perfect on every occasion I have used it.

Works great
It worked great except for two things. One is on me. I didn't change ownership so it did not copy everything. The other thing is that you may want to use the same size hard drive. My source disk was 640GB and the destination drive was 1TB. When it was finished copying, my new drive was 640GB. Because of the ownership thing, I did not try to fix this.
