PCB issues
I have had this product about a year and a half and have had to replace the PCB twice. Contacting WD for assistance is absolutely a waste of time and effort, spend your money elsewhere on a quality product.

100% Failure rate
I bought a 1.5TB My Book drive, and it failed in 8 months. HP replaced it on warranty. The replacement drive was a 1.5TB USB 3.0 drive - and it failed within 4 months. Out of warranty, I ripped the enclosure apart and found that the drive itself was in perfect shape (it is now installed as an internal drive)- it was the enclosure (something on the PCB board) which had failed. HP offered me a replacement drive even though it was out of warranty - I declined their offer. I need to be able to trust my backups, and with a 100% failure rate (admittedly on a very small sample size) I won't touch this product again.

Good value. However, I looked at the included backup software, but removed it. I use the Norton 360 backup function

Good deal
I'm using it to back up audio & video files. Plenty of storage space for the money. I like the dependability of Western Digital products, too, so would recommend this to anyone looking to purchase an external HD.

Plenty of storage space
I have a huge DVD collection and this will make a great place for me to back them up. I won't be using the included backup software, though. I reformatted the drive to take the software off of the drive for more space. I have always had good service from WD drives.
