Pretty and pretty small speakers
Not great. z906 surround (was first choice and the bundle price of 299 made it worth it, see TX-SR309). The surround speakers are tiny. Rant. Sony describes the speaker as 2.75 x 1.57 The cone is much smaller 1.93 x 0.94. The cone is an oval with parallel sides (think indoor track from above). 2 US quarters edge to edge are slightly larger than the cone. There are two 'woofers' and one tweeter per surround. Rated at 100W each. 22AWG wire is Sony being chintzy. 22 AWG is ok for very short runs. The longest is 25' foot, 50' for the circuit. Read 3db loss due to the high resistance of 22AWG wire. The wire inside the speakers might be larger than 22AWG. The intended use is computer speakers. So the expectations are not very high. Sub is plenty boomy and has an auto off feature. Bundled with TXSR309.

Great speakers for the price!
These are very good speakers. I did buy my own speaker wire rather than use the wire provided. I have not had the sound system all the way up, but loud enough for the neighbors to complain. :)

Amazing speakers
I bought these speakers for a small sized apartment and for my sony ps3. I have the volume constantly set to 30-40 and that is already pushing it. I have tried hitting 70 once a gun shot sounded like it was real! I recommend getting the onkyo 5.1 receiver to complement these speakers.
