Solid Platorm, Great Price

Purchased this laptop based on the reviews here and elsewhere, and fully agree with the majority that this platform is solid, and offered at a great price. My criticisms. First is the bloatware on the machine, which I instantly removed by performing a fresh install of Windows 7. A personal preference not to have clutter, plus I like setting up my partitians during this time. Second, the screen seems to be a bit flimsier than other Lenovo's I've owned. Something to keep in mind if you're going to be moving it on a daily basis. All in all, sound, video, speed, HD capacity and even Windows 7 live up to the hype. An easy recommendation.

Excellent buy for the money

Very pleased with the purchase. Very good graphics power (Starcraft 2, Guilwars, etc.) and cool looking case. Was shipped with the wrong type of power cable (European) but all was fixed within a few days. The left and right pad buttons seem a bit flimsy but work well. Excellent value when comparing with other manufacturers.

One of the best Laptop for its Price :D

I had no problem with this laptop so far (1week) THE One Touch Theater Key is actually helpful!(allows you to change to Normal,Game or Movie mode). The Audio improves alot!!! AND THE laptop is very light,slim and Very cool looking! I HAD NO PROBLEM SO FAR! Modern Warfare 2 - 1366x768 All Extra graphics, Yes to everything, AA 4x, NO LAG at ALL!!! Though the laptop did get really hot, so I recommend getting a laptop cooler of some sort, I just raised my laptop to let the air flow out. (But It never got so hot that it had to lock up). Also, DO NOT UNINSTALL THE HD 5730 Driver to replace with a new one... because you have the other one, it won't let you update for some reason, so I had to use system restore to get my drivers and stuff back! OH AND THE COMPUTER INTEGRATED AUDIO IS GREAT! SOOO LOUND AND CLEAR. Battery lasts 5hours MAX, when your on power save mode. Wireless works great! perfect! I love everything about this laptop... No flaws.

Good value with a few problems

The first Y560 I received ended up being defective. The exchange was fast and I had a working one within the week. This laptop is a great value, you really wont find a sub $1000 that matches the performance, though there are numerous problems with this model type. The quality of each y560 is random. Luckily I don't have any of the problems other customers have had (except for the DOA of course). This laptop does get hot on its left side but I've played games for hours and haven't had problems. If you're willing to leave the quality of your laptop to chance in order to get a good value then get this Y560.

Lenovo drivers + bad cooling

The stock Lenovo drivers that came with this laptop were extremely outdated and buggy, making it impossible to run anything that puts stress on the video card. I wasn't able to run any 3D games for more than 10 minutes without the laptop overheating and locking up completely. I uninstalled the Lenovo video drivers and installed the newer ATI drivers - the fan ACTUALLY kicked in when running any games, however, I received lots of artifacting shortly afterwards. Obviously, the GPU isn't being cooled efficiently, wit max temperature of 80 degrees. This is fairly hot, not too extreme, but it's obviously too hot for the 5730 to handle, since I receive all kinds of artifacts. The Core i5, for seemingly being energy efficient, runs about the same temperature as the GPU - that's insane! I thought this laptop would've been a steal at this price, and it is. It's just that the lenovo drivers are so unbelieveably out of date and the cooling is extremely inefficient.
