I bought this device specifically because I was looking for the cheapest way to record video from my security cameras onto my Linux box. Video quality was not a concern. This is indeed compatible with Linux; all you need to do is compile the most recent development version of the v4l-dvb drivers (because the manufacturer recently updated the video capture chip used in this device).
