Inadequate Operating Diretions
I downgraded this GPS due to inadequate operating instructions. This IS NOT my first GPS. Previous ones had better operating instructions and more intuitive to use. Basically all the instructions tell you is to turn it on and update it. It is easy to put in an address you want to go to. Everything else is punch the screen and hope you you can find the correct screen for the adjustments or anything else you you need to use it for. It was shipped quickly and was well packed. Probably my LAST Tom Tom!

TomTom XL 340TM with lifetime maps
The unit arrived quickly and worked with no problems. It took about 1 hour to back up the system and 45 min to download the new maps. The unit has worked fine so far. It is easy to use and seems to always take me on the shortest route to my destination.

Very decent device for the price
I've had other products from the same company for my Tungsten T5 PDA, so I'm familiar with the ease of TomTom's operating system. They have improved quite a bit since then. The fact is... this is one of the basic devices from TomTom, so I cannot expect too many features that are offered through other more expensive devices. For it's basic functions, accuracy, and clarity, this is a great device. The sensitivity of the touchscreen is just right; the response time of locating a satellite is acceptable. Having the safety features is great; I really hope other drivers around me actually use them! The Lane Assist feature is great, but it seems to come on more often then it should, especially driving through windy I-5 in Seattle! The initial cost on the Lifetime Traffic and Map Updates is definitely worth it, since any map update from other companies can cost quite a bit in the long run.

I love my Tom Tom
