Dies after a while

I have always bought WD Hard drives, but this one and another 1.5 tb drive died after one year and I lost a lot of files. The 2 tb drive was just used for storage and did not get accessed much, but it died with 3000 movies on it. If you get one make sure to back it up: good advice any time.

Great Drive

I've got 4 of these in my home server.. and it runs 24 hours a day... Has been running for 18 months, never had an issue with these drives, they stay cool, they're quiet, and reliable. I often have media streaming to 2 or 3 devices around the house and it never even so much as hiccups!

Buy the 2TB WD Caviar Black Hard Drive INSTEAD

I bought this hard drive for an external drive to store my movies when it was $80 which I thought was a good deal and now I know why it was $80. After a month the hard drive stopped working. I had to physically take it of the case and beat on the drive then stick it back in the case enclosure to get it to work. Every time I turn off power to it and turn it back on it never works and I have to beat on it in hopes that it will start working. Now they want $200 for it, I hope that comes with some Vaseline. Western Digital usually makes good drives (all my other drives are WD), but they dropped the ball on this green drive. If you're thinking of spending $200 on this drive you should pay the the extra $100 and get the WD Caviar Black 2TB Hard Drive. I have a few Caviar Black Drives and have no problems with them.

Great Drive

Have had this drive for over a yr now. NOT A SINGLE COMPLAINT. Drive is fast, has great size for storage. I plan on getting 3 more for a R.A.I.D. 5 config., when prices come back down to the $70 - $90 range.
