Works Very Well
Bought this unit three months ago to back up and store files. In this capacity it has worked very well. Transfer time for files is very short.

works verry well no software needed plug and play just use cut and paste for your files and put your files in the HDD drive file! it's that simple great product thanks!

GREAT EXT STORAGE DRIVE!!!
big time storage! Big time value, she runs quiet cool and fast! I replaced a 5 yr old 1TV drive that fell and broke, fortunately I have several externals and only lost movies , I always tell ppll use raid,use redundancy on important data ,I dumped the data from 4 other drives on this bad zzz and it's still 90% empty! 3 TV is crazy big and will take me a min to fill I would buy another if I could but I see they are out now,hope they get more

OK, but get too hot, take out of cases, then ok!
OK in XP right out of box. No power or USB problems. When you disconnect USB cable, it spins down, so can leave power adapter connected. But it gets too hot in the cases. Using SMART info, gets up to 50C. So, I took 'em apart. Inside are ST3000DM001 drives. Work fine with a SATA controller, running Server 2003. Points on using with a SATA controller: -Run SMART Extended Test to check drives before removing from cases, as warranty is then invalid. -If you put data on it using USB, move it off first as a controller can't see it later. -Controller card has to have 64-bit LBA, 48-bit won't work. -Cannot use in XP with a controller. To give XP native GPT support use P-a-r-a-g-o-n GPT Loader. Or, use Win 2003 Server (like XP, but with GPT support). -Delete all partitions, convert to GPT, then create 3TB partition. Conclusion: Gets too hot in case. Use with a controller card instead and keep the power and USB adapters.
