Great Product for the Price

Bought this computer for pharmacy school and love it. Haven't started classes yet but this is a great computer especially for the cost.

Excellent Product!

I am very pleased with this laptop. It has a very nice look to it, and the quality feels very good. The performance is great, especially for the price. Unlike many other laptops I've had this one didn't come with a lot of software I'll never use. One thing I liked was that to get access to the RAM, HDD etc you don't have to unscrew anything which makes it look really sleek. The only thing I wish it had was a backlit keyboard, but it's not a big deal. If you're hesitant take my word, it's a very good piece of machinery.

great computer for the money

I recently purchased this computer for my boss at work and was pleased enough with the value that I then purchased one for myself as well.

No Media reader

I am pleased with the laptop as it is exactly what I expected, except I failed to check if there was a media reader so was surprised there was none. Easy work-around with a USB reader. I chose to leave window 7 and set up my computer because I can upgrade to windows 8 and not lose my settings at a later date. For the money, it is a decent computer.

Just what I was looking for!

Great HP Laptop, very fast! I was going to go with the Windows 7 operating system, but after doing my homework and comparing speeds between 7 & 8, I opted for Windows 8 and haven't looked back. I use 7 Ultimate 64 bit on my desktop, but after using 8 Pro 64 bit on this laptop I'm very impressed and will stick with it.

Shocked!!!!

SHOCKED!!! At the speed in which this Laptop arrived. Ordered on Weds afternoon and it was on my kitchen table on Thursday afternoon. Less then 24 hrs!!! Purchased for my Freshman college student. Sharp look with its Silver finish. Seems like everything is working to expectations. Audio could be a bit louder. Although it is acceptable. Kids already love the Webcam, listening to their favorite music and watching DVD's. It's only been a day so lets hope everything continues to please. But so far so good. Seems perfect for a Freshmen in College. One thing that did bother me. It Does not seem to be Pre-loaded with Office 2010 as promised.(described) So this will be an additional cost that I didnt expected. We are Using Windows 7. Wanted no part of Windows 8 although its nice to have a choice. All in all, seems like a very nice laptop 4 the money. My daughter is Happy.

Not as pleased as I could be

The laptop plugs in on the left side and the mouse pad is moved towards the left which makes things uncomfortable for a right handed person. The vent for the laptop is again on the left and is aimed towards the ground. My leg gets very warm with the computer on my lap. The volume controls on the keyboard do not work and the laptop seems to take a longer than normal time to boot up. Even though I stopped several start up programs from loading, the boot up time seems excessive. The previous two HP laptops I owned did not have these characteristics. For the price, I am satisfied; but, you do get what you pay for.

The only thing I didn't like about this was having to pay extra to get a windows 7 computer. Other than that this thing is outstanding.

excellent value; plays well with ubuntu

I needed a linux laptop. This one looked like a good deal but I couldn't find much information on linux compatibility. I installed ubuntu. At install, you have to choose to install proprietary drivers for the Wi-Fi to work. Once it's running, you get a lot of video artifact until you download and install the free catalyst display driver from AMD. Then it works like a charm!
