Great mobo
The mobo itself is built like a tank and operates exceptionally well despite the way UPS handled the package (looked like it had been dropped from orbit). I would have no qualms about buying another one, if I could afford it now that I'm bankrupt.
A+ For 4-way SLI Motherboard & Lifetime Warranty
I had 0 problems on First Bootup. Installed Motherboard in Lian Li P80B Case. I did have to Drill the bottom 3 Motherboard monuting screw holes,but that was not that big of a deal. I am running FOUR Geforce 8800 Ultra's in SLI. WOW, UNBELIVABLE PERFORMANCE! I would buy again. A+ Ron
Love this board
Threw this in the Cooler Master HAF X case, plenty of room, also got the EVGA Classified SR2 1200 Watt Power Supply. Put the Intel BX80613i7980X Core i7 980X Extreme Edition, saw a review about updating the BIOS, the board booted fine with the proc out of the box, but i did have to download the BIOS update ISO before it would recognize it properly. BIOS update from CD was a breeze. Put 2x Patriot PV7312G1600ELK Viper II 12288MB PC12800 DDR3 Triple Channel Memory 12GB, 1600MHz, 9 9 9 24, 3x4096MB. Memory test took forever, never had 24GB before. Also for those NIX users, been running Fedora 14 64 bit flawlessly since i got this setup over a month ago.
Also followed vendor recommendations off EVGAs site for cases and i had no issues.
CONs only cons i found so far was like others mentioned the chipset cooler appears slightly bent down, gently realigned it, doesnt appear to be causing issues, though i still havent found out what the chipset temps are supposed to be.
If your a noob dont buy this lol
Do not buy this board if you are not oing to overclock, and dont buy if you have only 1 video card. This mobo will not fit in 99.9% of cases. Do not buy if you do not have a liquid cooling setup. If you have all the above then snag it!
XL ATX Case
Make sure you have the right case. Its made for an XL ATX case. The power supply covers part of the board in a full size ATX case.
