Check with your repairman before you buy
It did not work. Repairman said he has had a lot of difficulty with these adapters working. Not slamming the product just the facts for me.

IDE to SATA Converter
I needed something to enable me to plug in an ATA ribbon cable to a SATA Drive. This plugs in easily with no additional software needed and works great, just as advertised.

Very simple
I have a 2006 sony computer and needed a new DVD RW drive , and purchased a sata dvd rw , because there are not any ide in the stores any more, it started up and ran fine, would play some disk just fine, but others it would lock up the whole computer and would have to push power button to turn off. would not let me burn disk either and would lock up. so i returned and will go with the Bi-Directional SATA IDE Adapter ConverterPATA2SATA3 , it says optical drive compatible. ??? so we will see. also i was out shipping both ways on this deal.

very good for the money
I didn't actually use this in a computer. I had a surveillance system that used an IDE hard drive to hold the recorded data and when the old IDE drive died I was faced with a new system or use the newer SATA or chunk the system. This adapter worked perfectly and the new drive is not only faster but much larger allowing me to record at higher frame rates. This was well worth the money because I now have availability to even larger drives if I choose. I would buy this again in a similar situation.

Worked exactly as advertised.
leadless solder is killing the hard drives in older equipment due to our factory enviornment so we are testing out ssd's. This product had no issue's with adapting the ssd to the mother board and getting the DOS image ghosted onto it. If the test shows this conversion to be cost effective in the long run we will be ordering roughly 30 more of these adapters.
