No drives over 2 Tb

The card worked fine on my 2 Tb drives. But when I added a 3Tb drive, the computer can't even see it.

Great SATA port expansion card

I was adding another SATA drive to one of my computers and found out that I had cheaped out on that system board so I was short a SATA port. Looked for a PCI card and found this one, too bad not all ports are available at the same time of use but at this point that is not a concern at all so features 4 for that one but other than that ... works super, easy install. Top pick!

Very Nice Item!

My motherboard only has 4 ports on it, and I needed more. This card meets that need head-on. My only issue with it is that I can only use 2 of the 4 ports. Seems that it needs two IRQs to make all 4 work and I can't disable enough to make it all 4 work :0 , hence my 4 on the value.

With Linux Mint I had some problems initially. After installation of the card I rebooted a few times with the card only working once. I put the card into another slot, checked some things, and rebooted a few times again with it working only once. I just kept trying and eventually something clicked. It's worked fine ever since. I already knew about the 4 ports. I only needed one of them actually. I don't have any esata devices. I just wanted the other ports for possible future use.

Very good card

I am very happy with this RAID card though I use it, with only one drive, to connect my new SATA to a PATA-only-motherboard. Easy to install. As soon as my new Caviar Black 1T was partitionned and formatted in Disk Management from Computer Management, it then became visible and since, my old computer works well with my new Sata drive like if it was a Pata connected on the usual onboard controller.

Works with both XP Home & Ubuntu 11.04

This controller worked right out of the box with both Windows XP Home Edition(SvcPk3)and Ubuntu Linux 11.04. I installed this card in an older 1.7 GHz Pentium 4 system where I am using removable drive drawers to switch between XP and Ubuntu. I added the card to allow me to install a new SATA DVD burner and a new 500GB HDD for data storage. I am not using the cards RAID, as I have no arrays defined on this system.

The only thing that I would change about this product would be to possibly include more of the sata cables since there are 4 inputs. Other than that I have absolutely no complaints.

Read carefully. Only 4 ports can be used. It might have 6 connectors but only 4 can be used. and you have to switch jumpers. not software or auto selectable. Come on, put the 6 port silicon on it for 30 bucks. Should be advertised as 4 port but flexible between 4 internal and 2-2 internal external. At least rewrite the description. Do not claim 6 ports. Not true. It's going back.

Unit is advertised as 6 port but only has 4 that can be used at one time. I managed to use it as a add on card for sata. The unit works well for that.
