Works great, when it works
Bought two of these. Had them for a little bit more than a year. Came home to the smell of burning electronics. Turns out it is one of these drives failing. It is still accessible for now, but extremely slow. Currently trying to copy all the files off of it before it completely fails. I am not impressed with this at all! Once I am able to get my files off, I will be returning this to manufacturer.

Hard drive good - rebate only a sales gimmick
Rebate a monster of paperwork to fill in. Then when you have send all documentation correctly and in time, you wait for 6 weeks, only to be told from the Rebate Center, which operates independently, Your Rebate was not approved for the following reason wrong bar code label

good so far
I use my PC as a mass storage device for videos and browsing. So far, so good. No crashes. . . But, it does lag just a bit with this wack spindle speed. It's my fault, I just did not notice it in the description.

''Not recomended for RAID''
Overall, probably is good if used properly(my 1TB in an external enclosure has been working more than 1 year, so far). In December 09 I purchased two of these drives for a freenass file server with software RAID 1 mirroring and one of them has failed and the other is failing. I called the company and they told me that these drives are not recomended to be used in a RAID, and after a while said they are fine to use in external enclosures with a raid set up. I am new to using RAID, but I think i'll take their advice and go with the WD caviar black drives next time. BTW WD customer service is amazing!

Unrecoverable errors
Have 4 of these ranging from 2 to 6 months old. 1 failed with Unrecoverable sectors, RMA sent from WD failed SMART during format. Awaiting a replacement. RMA process worked well but new drive didn't.
