Great mid-range gaming laptop

I am extremely satisfied with this purchase. The build quality and resolution are both beautiful, and the dedicated graphics card handles mid to high range gaming at a usable level on mid to high graphics settings. While Windows 8 hasn't yet been perfected (8.1 soon), it combined with the i7 allows for quick boot-up and wake-up. The only complaint I'd have is that Asus packed in a bunch of their bloatware that took me a couple of hours to sort through and dispose of what was useless. Definitely recommended for anyone who needs a cheap, sleek gaming laptop.

Computer is great; Windows 8 not so much

The computer is a great value; speed, storage, display. Quality of manufacturing is excellent. Windows 8 hurts productivity, even after I've learned how to use it. Thus, a lower performance score.

A great mid-end laptop

I used this laptop as a desktop replacement since I move around and I used it mainly for playing games. So far this laptop could run several games smoothly though not in very high graphic setting. I'd say this is a very good deal for a $700 laptop

Very Happy With My Purchase

I am thrilled with my new Asus (so far)! I have had it one week and I'm thrilled. The computer is fast, looks great, has a wonderful keyboard and touchpad, and seems to have a good build quality. Windows 8 is terrible, but that is not the computers fault. For the value I don't think you can find a better computer.

Love this laptop!

Very happy with the speed of the processor, feel of the keyboard and the display. Compared to the Lenovos that I use in the classroom, this feels so much more sturdy, and responsive. Several weeks of research of models and manufacturers led me to Asus. The only thing I wish this particular model had is a backlit keyboard. (It's very helpful when I'm in bat mode). Made the upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 8. Still figuring out some of the tricks, not crazy about it, but I am adapting to it much more easily than I thought I would. Maybe my Windows phone helped with that. I feel very comfortable about the durability, and price paid for this product.

Don't buy an ASUS product

I bought an ASUS tablet for my wife. Sat wrapped for several weeks. Would not turn on. Sent back for repair. Took a very long time. Worked for several weeks. Same problem. Contacted them and they said it was out of warranty - even though it was the same problem. I have a dead tablet that worked a few times. I even had an email that said they would fix it. DON'T DO IT!

Low price for an excellent performer

I bought this laptop to install Linux on. UEFI was a pain but besides that it is pretty compatible with the OS. The processor is great; I've seen serious improvement in performance as far as compiling applications and gaming goes. It runs very cool and the palm rests, at the most, get only slightly warm, even when doing processor-intensive tasks. My one complaint is the low-quality speakers, but the good aspects of this inexpensive laptop outweigh that.

Love this machine. Fantastic buy. If you are buying a PC you need to buy Asus. It is glorious.

First Laptop to replace old desktop

I wasn't sure if I wanted a laptop but I wanted the mobility, too. I looked at this and decided to get it. Win 7 user, I got used to the win 8 in about 2 days. Best deal I can ask for. Dependable so far and no issues (yet). Most reviews don't give it justice. I haven't tried the games on it yet, mostly for internet, messenger. Would like to upgrade to 8gb ram but that will come son enough.
