First one was DOA
Intel has the best reputation for SSD reliability, but the one we received was not recognised by the computer. We tried it in 2 other computers with the same result. Intel replaced it without a fuss. (We used bubble wrap and the small US Post Office Priority Mail carton - shipping cost $5.35 as I recall.) The replacement SSD works great. Newer models may offer faster performance, but on our 3 year-old desktop PC Windows 7 boots up in about 30 seconds ready to use. Most programs start or launch in a couple of seconds, big 3D games load in 25 seconds instead of 45 seconds, and file transfers are very fast. One caveat. A five year-old PC based on an ECS G31T-M motherboard refuses to work with this Intel X25-M SSD even though it works fine with a Kingston V+100 SSD from the same period. Minus one star on the Performance rating for that quirk.

Upgrade for circa 2007 Lenovo Laptop
A huge improvement for a Lenovo R61 Core 2 Duo laptop. There is simply not an upgrade that has as much impact as an SSD. Used the recovery DVDs to install a fresh WinXP Pro OS. Used GParted Live to correctly align the partitions after the installation. Advantage of an Intel SSD in an XP install is that the free Intel SSD Toolbox allows you to run the trim function in XP thru the Intel SSD optimizer. Even using the original SATA interface (there is a 3rd party BIOS upgrade available to get SATA II speeds) the bootup and response time is at least 4 times faster than using mechanical. Am installing one off those after market Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapters and will put the old drive in as a pure data drive.

best deal on reliable 34nm chips
This is already the cheapest per GB SSD that you can buy for a 34nm MLC drive. already came with updated firmware (fixed both bios password and TRIM), an excellent entry-level SSD for perfect for non-enthusiasts.
