Great Monitor

I thoroughly enjoy using this monitor. I was a little worried about the price but don't regret the purchase one bit. I would definitely buy this again and recommend this for anyone using a Windows 8 desktop. Just remember to change the down-scaling to 0% if using AMD. It might look like a border to some, but it's the processor scaling down the display 10-15%.

Very nice!

I needed a multi-touch monitor to use for application development. This one works very well for that purpose. The touch is accurate and responsive, and with up to 20 touch points, I can test just about any application. The only gripe I have is that the driver for the monitor must try to map touch points to mouse events. The first touch never seems to just come in as raw touch data, even after disabling gesture support in Windows 7. This could be an error on my part though. All said and done, this is a great monitor for the price. Aside from the touch capability, the viewing area is large and clear, and the monitor has a modern look. Where are the custom back covers that are advertised? I haven't been able to find any such thing online.

Great Monitor

This is my second Planar touch screen monitor. The first was the PX2230MW. Both are excellent monitors. This screen is large and can take up a lot of real estate on the desk but I have them attached to a monitor arms. They are responsive tools for computing and the support from Planar is great. The first monitor popped the USB port from the mainboard on the monitor and Planar is replacing it under warranty. The screen is very responsive to the touch. The colors are good and the animation on screen is alive. I have not used the speaker or mic as I have these separately on my system. Worth the money for the size and clarity.

Response: New to Touch Screen

Rick - Likely your graphic card is scaling down your viewable area on your screen. For example, an AMD Radeon HD card will scale down the area by 15%. This create a mismatch between what you see on the screen and your touch sensor. You will need to set the scale value to 0% and this should fix your problem. New to the Touch Screen

Monitor works fine. I like the touch screen but don't use it a lot. I tried running it in 1920x1080 res but the touch screen and the win 8 icons don't line up exactlly. Still figuring that out. The next step down in res works fine. Webcam works good in skype. Have not tried the mic since I have my own that I really like. The price seemed high but you pay for the touch screen. Not sure how much you should pay. My wife loves skyping on the unit with her grandchild. Overall I am glad I got it.

Excellent Performance

Excellent in all areas. Can't fault it. Even extended warranty was reasonable. I'm not a monitor expert though, but everything is appearing to be a winner despite only three weeks of use.

Beautiful Screen. Great for Windows 8

This is a beautiful and large touch screen monitor for Windows 8. Color show great and it has a very wide viewing angle so you can lay the monitor in a drafting table mode. Planar must have put a high quality LCD in this display probably IPS or VMA, definitely not TN. The touch is extremely responsive and works great on Windows 8. I've been looking for a touch screen for Windows 8. No one put Planar seems to have them at the moment. Great monitor, glad Planar has one for Windows.

Disappointing Display Quality

The unit is attractive and well-made, and its touch functions work great. The speakers are simply awful, but who buys a monitor for the speakers? No, the problem with the PCT2785 is that it just doesn't measure up in the most important attribute of any monitor - image quality. Although Planar doesn't provide much in the way of real tech specs, this is a TN LCD (as opposed to the similarly priced but more vibrant VA or IPS touch monitors from Dell and Acer) and its effective color gamut shows it - the black point isn't even in sight of true black - the greyest I've seen in a computer monitor in a long time, and the entire gamut looks lifeless and washed out, no matter how the unit is calibrated. I tried dozens of settings both on the monitor OSD and through the Nvidia GTX660 adapter, and nothing came close. For any application that is even moderately particular about color rendition, this unit will simply not be acceptable.

Great Touch Monitor, Great Price & Available!

Unlike some other manufactures I was really happy to see that Planar actually has a touch monitor available for Windows8! I didn't know much about Planar so I did a little research and was impressed with their customer first warranty - 2 day advance replacement if there is a problem. So I bought this monitor and have been very impressed. It works great with my Windows 8 Ultrabook. The screen really pops and I can open so many windows without tiling. The touch is ultra responsive, and the stand is a thing of beauty.
