Hard to believe it's a refurb. Windows 7 upgrade good til Jan 31 2010, an unadvertised plus. Shipped within hours of order. I will be a return customer. |

I purchased this computer on 12-13-09 and arrived in two days. The computer is brand new and I can't believe it is a refurb. I added more memory to bring it to 8GB and the machine is quite. I also got a free upgrade to Win 7 from HP. |

This is definately a good deal,one thing though I wasnt told that I was entitled to the windows 7 free upgrade! That is most def. a strong selling point, so if you bought this one after 6-26 get the upgrade!! |

I purchased this system after I got ticked at the run around I got from the salesman at a Big Box Store who WOULD NOT sell me a computer because I kept refusing all the service contract add-ons that he was pushing. I got the system within five days, set it up without a hitch and have been running it more or less continuously now for more than a month. It works flawlessly, is fast as a scared rabbit, and is pretty quiet for a powerful machine. I would have liked a second DVD drive, but that's just greed talking; it was a GREAT value for the money. HP loads their computers with a lot of HP-centric software that you can do without, but that is quibbling about a great system. I have had no issues whatsoever with this refurbished system. I received this product in working order. When I purchased it the two things that I discovered that would need an upgrade was the video card and the power supply. I ordered both items and paid roughly an extra $125... this machine is great. |

What Is
FireWire?
FireWire (also known as the IEEE 1394 interface) is a serial bus interface
standard, for high-speed communications and isochronous real-time data
transfer, used on PCs & MACs , with storage devices, and with digital audio
and digital video devices. The interface is also known by the brand names of
FireWire (Apple's name) and i.LINK (Sony's name).
FireWire has replaced SCSI in many applications, due to lower costs and a
simplified, more adaptable cabling system. IEEE 1394 has been adopted as the
High Definition Audio-Video Network Alliance (HANA) standard connection
interface for A/V (audio/visual) component communication and control.
FireWire is also available in wireless, fiber optic, and coaxial versions.
Almost all modern digital camcorders have included this connection since
1995, as do the vast majority of high end professional audio interfaces.
Since 2003 many computers intended for home or professional audio/video use
have built-in FireWire/i.LINK ports, even some iPods. It is also available
on many motherboards. FireWire has also become a dominant local
storage interface, for use with external storage devices, such as external
