Works fine.
I bought this device to connect a computer in an metal outbuilding to my home pc system. I have been using this with no problems so far. The EnGenius EOC1650 works as good or better than I had hoped. I had to set up another EnGenius EOC1650 as an access point on my home and the first EOC1650 as a Client Bridge to make this work as I was transmitting the signal over 400 ft.

Well Built!
I bought this device to replace a wired ethernet connection to connect a computer in an metal outbuilding. I was having problems maintaining the wired connection because the distance was at, or just beyond the reliable distance for a wired connection. I have been using this in AP mode for over a year, through a Minnesota winter and a sultry, steaming hot summer with no problems. The EnGenius EOC1650 works as good or better than I had hoped. I gave 4 stars, instead of 5, for value, only because their are newer units similarly priced which provide faster transfer speeds (wireless-N). However, I was limited anyways, because I was using another wireless-G access point with it. So, it works great for me.

Easy to Use
When I first got it, I was a little put off by one of the technical pages until I realized I didn't need that. As a wireless access point, it was easy to set up and easy to connect to. It also comes with mounting hardware that can be suction-cupped to a window or permanently attached to a wall. Also worth mentioning is that it can be powered from either end of the ethernet cable attaching it to your network giving you a lot of flexibility in powering the device.

Excellent value & performance
I've used these wifi APs on two marine installations now. They were used to give wifi access to the crews of two cargo ships. I was pleased with the rich feature set and quality of the firmware and its configuration interface. Deployment of multiple units is very easy. The signal provided by these units is excellent using the included omnidirectional antenna. One AP per deck of the ship provides excellent signal to all crew's quarters, and even covers areas outside of the ship's house - crew can use the wifi on the ship's bridge, on deck, and even on the dock next to the ship. The units are extremely reliable. We've not had any problems. Just be sure to note that these are NOT 802.11af compatible, so they cannot be used with most PoE switches. I didn't realize this until I began installation. The included power injectors have worked fine
