Most newer audio equipment (such as TVs, cable boxes, CD players and gaming consoles) only outputs audio signals through digital optical or digital coaxial connections. That limitation can prevent you from outputting sound to your stereo equipment which may only accept analog signals. Our Cables to Go 28733 Digital to Analog Audio Converter is the ideal solution to convert digital audio signals to analog audio. Once in analog format, the signal can then be distributed up to 150 feet away, surpassing the length limitations of digital audio. This not only provides added flexibility for equipment placement, but also saves money by eliminating the need to purchase digital repeaters. This plug-and-play Cables to Go 28733 Digital to Analog Audio Converter requires no additional software or drivers and supports Windows® 7. Up to three different devices can be connected at the same time using S/PDIF coaxial, TOSLINK optical, or USB input. This not only accommodates a variety of equipment types but also allows for multiple configurations based on the user’s custom setup.
Note: This device cannot convert compressed digital audio formats such as Dolby Digital® or dts®. It can only convert non-compressed audio such as PCM to an analog output.

Exactly Whats Needed
Bought a new TV, only had optical out for sound, older 5 disk dvd, and surround with only one analog in. This little adapter made it possible to put all HDMI to the TVthen using the optical out on the TV, and have all units sound come from the stereo (Wi, Blue ray, DVD,Computer, and PS2).

product works as advertised
bought this product to hook it up to a plasma tv's digital out to my older boom box that only has rca inputs. Bought this product and was pleasantly surprised as it works perfectly as advertised. A bit pricey but was worth it in my case.

It's ok but not for the price
Feature are there. Pricey for what you get. The amplifier isn't that great. I had to hook up a small mixer to get a decent volume. But I guess you pay the price from going to digital to analogue audio. But I can't blame that entirely, my TV out only had an optical audio option only. So, make sure if you have an old audio system and you get a brand new TV, ensure that both systems are compatible.

Excellent product for a reasonable price
Not the least expensive product but excellent quality. No noise when optical source is off. Clear sound with standard output level. Definitely THE product to go when you have an optical output and a stereo input.
