All I need
My only issue is some games make the drive rev up to high speed for long periods. This is not the ROMs fault. Otherwise it works like I expected.

Does the job.
If you need an inexpensive cd-rom, look no further. It doesn't come with a cable, but no big whoop, most SATA capable motherboards come with them anyway. I wish I hadn't baught it only due to the fact that it isn't feasible for my use or situation. It works like a charm though! No complaints!

Answer to my problems
I Buy audio books on CD and rip them to MP3 to take with me. Every combo drive that I have used has trouble reading some disks, even brand new, out of the box, or slightest scratched. This HP has read every disk I had problems with. Over 100 trouble cd's since I get it and not one read problem. It is the 3rd optical drive in my system so SATA is great, Price made it a perfect answer for me.
