It is a pain so far
I have had this laptop a little over 6 months and I have sent it to Acer support services once already. The graphics display jitter massively to the point you cannot read it, watch it or even look at it. Acer Support Services returned it saying they could not reproduce the problem. Soon as a turned it on, same problem.. May have looked like a good value for the money, but it's not worth much if you can't see it. I've started searching the net and found Nvidia geforce GS card had a driver update. I loaded it up and it seems to work, but the BlueRay stopped working. Tried reloading back to factory default and the jitter came back, but the BlueRay didn't start working.. I guess I will be sending it back to Acer Support again.. I'm getting a good feeling about this Laptop !! I've had nothing but trouble since I got it !! My old P3-550 Toshiba still works, so far this Acer is a big disappointment !!

seemed like a great deal...
This was my third laptop purchase overall, my second one made by Acer. I had a great experience with my first Acer laptop, just a minor problem in the 3 years I owned it. This Acer, however, has been a totally different story. I totally agree with the other reviewers who have complained about the touch pad, for one thing. I absolutely can't stand its slow and imprecise response. I've had trouble with the blu ray drive. First it wouldn't eject a disc, then it started having very jerky motions when I played blu ray discs. I can best describe the video as like watching in slow motion (the audio was fine). When I had the computer for about 2 months, all of a sudden the screen just went totally white. I can't tell if it is a hard drive problem which Acer's technical support seemed to think, or a problem with the LCD screen itself. One great thing is the sound on this laptop, pretty good considering it is a laptop.

Great value!
It was a very difficult decision for me to return this computer. It was of great value. For only $699.99 it had all the features I wanted, including Blu-ray. However, the mouse pad was slow to respond to touch. There were continuous delays between movements on the touch pad and movements of the pointer. The viewing angle was low. I had to adjust the screen every time I changed position while watching a Blu-ray movie. This was due to negative black resulted from the glare of the screen. I still can't find a notebook with all the features and Blu-ray for $699.99 or less (with no glare this time). This Acer is a great buy for someone who is not concerned with the glare during movies. You can buy a mouse for the touch pad issue.

Great value for price!
Blue-ray notebook with 4GB RAM and 16 inch screen at $700 is a great value no matter what. I shopped for a long time and was close to buying a similar sized and priced HP but without the Blue-ray feature. That coupled with other positive reviews convinced me to take a chance with this Acer. Everything worked well out of the box. Only two things have come up in the first month. The first is the touchpad mouse which is not as responsive as other notebooks but a wireless mouse solves that easily. The second which I am still working through is the Blue-ray which plays some discs well but seems to run a little slower with others. Otherwise, I'm completely satisfied with this and highly recommend it.
