waste of time and money

tried to make this work using mutiple different cables and combinations, repeatedly tested and retested cat 5 cables but could not find any way to make it work, (even tried 6' factory made patch cables) should have just spent the extra money to begin with and gotten a better quality product.

HDMI extender does work

I ordered this item which it was labeled as an Arkview brand. I actually received the item labeled as Sabrent (which was different from the one in the pic). I was unable to get the item to work and I tried several combinations before I figured it out. In order to get this item to work I had to connect the video on the sender to the DDC on the receiver and the DDC on the sender to the video on the receiver. I would have assumed that you must connect the video to video and DDC to DDC. I did not connect the power supply to the device. The video looked the same with or without the power supply connected. I am using cat5e cables and generic HDMI cables. I have a 6f HDMI connected to a pass thru keystone wall jack with a 10f HDMI cable connected to the sender unit. I then have a 6f HDMI connected from the receiver unit to the TV. I have a total of 55f of cat5e and 22f of HDMI cables. DTV and Blu-Ray look the same.

Does what it says on the tin

Running 1080p over about 60 feet of CAT5e with no problems. They aren't fancy but get the job done with minimum fuss. A couple of things to remember when using these things though. Quality of cabling matters. If you aren't familiar with how to run and test Cat5 then hire someone who is. Also, the transmitter side is really just a cable converter so make sure you either use shielded cable or put in a surge protector. Otherwise a close lightning strike can (and probably will) blow the HDMI port on your home theater unit. For the price, great little solution to running HDMI more than the usual 30ft limit.
